Since 2001 the All Wales Core Programme Quiz for secondary schools has been organised in partnership with the Police, the Fire Service, the Arson Reduction Teams, Healthy Schools, Road Safety Wales, WISE Online and Crimestoppers.. The Core Programme is currently being delivered by Police Officers to all schools across Wales and complements the work being undertaken by PSE teachers in the field of crime prevention. Every secondary school (approx 240) across Wales is invited to enter a team of year eight pupils.
The programme focuses on Crime Prevention issues and is delivered as part of the schools PSE programme. It is composed of three main themes, namely drug and substance misuse, social behaviour and community and safety.
All the Comprehensive Schools from across Wales were invited to compete at local level, and the successful teams from each LEA then went on to compete for the regional title. The regional winners will then compete at the National final as the culmination of all their effort and hard work. The quiz consists of 6 rounds all designed to test their skills of observation, general and crime prevention knowledge.
