International Walk to School Week is held every October and gives children, parents, teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking.
Every day throughout October, the Road Safety Team and Henson the Hedgehog walk with a different school every day as part of their Walk to School competition. Every day the numbers of children walking were recorded and converted to a percentage in comparison to the numbers of children on roll, with the winning school receiving the trophy for their school.
All participating schools make a huge effort to encourage as many of their pupils as possible to take part in the event, with huge proportions of for the walks.
