Welcome to Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Road Safety
Website
Helping to keep you safe... our team of
dedicated road safety officers are committed to making Neath Port
Talbot's roads safer.
The programme of works developed by the units Education,
Training and Publicity team coupled with the Driver Training team
is designed to address real time concerns and emerging trends,
which address casualty statistics, community concerns, and help
maintain dialogue with our many partners.
In its advisory capacity the team liaise with staff across the
authority and local businesses on all aspects of driving for work
and driver training in terms of their responsibility under the
Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007 and Health and Safety at Work Act
2009.
Each educational link is viewed as a building block, engaging
pupils through our primary, secondary schools and colleges we aim
to apply early intervention packages before continuing road safety
learning with a series of initiatives aimed at pre driver, newly
qualified driver and advanced driver/rider alongside professional
driver training.
This proactive approach commencing with Children's Traffic Club
at 3 years all the way through to Driver Refresher Training where
we have trained drivers at 80+, ensures that residents within the
borough regardless of age, sex or social background receive
targeted and relevant road safety information culminating in a
safer road user network for all.
Our comprehensive programme has seen success in terms of
casualty reduction where in 2010, against the 94/98 average, we saw
a 57 % reduction in the child killed or seriously injured category
with our slight injuries showing a 48 % reduction.
We can't do this alone together we can make a
difference...
